Margin & Leverage Policy

1. Conditional Publication

Publish this policy only after Compliance confirms that the relevant leveraged products are within Montrock’s authorised product scope and the exact margin rules have been approved.

2. What Leverage Means

Leverage allows a Client to obtain market exposure greater than the cash or collateral posted. It magnifies both gains and losses.

3. Initial and Maintenance Margin

The Company may specify initial margin to open a position and maintenance margin to keep it open. Requirements may differ by instrument, account, client category and market conditions.

4. Variable Requirements

Margin can be increased, leverage reduced or new positions restricted because of volatility, concentration, liquidity, events, counterparty requirements or regulatory action.

5. Margin Monitoring

Clients are responsible for monitoring margin continuously. The Company may provide platform indicators or alerts, but these do not transfer responsibility to the Company.

6. Close-Out

Where available margin falls below applicable requirements, the Company may close one or more positions, cancel orders, restrict new positions or require additional collateral. The Company is not required to choose the position most favourable to the Client unless applicable law or product terms require otherwise.

7. No Guaranteed Margin Call

Unless expressly agreed, the Company is not required to contact the Client or provide additional time before risk-reducing action.

8. Negative Balances

Negative balance protection must not be promised unless it applies to the relevant Client and product by contract and operation. Where it does not apply, the Client may remain liable for a debit balance, subject to applicable law.

9. Concentration and Event Risk

The Company may impose additional margin on concentrated portfolios, illiquid instruments, positions held through major announcements or other exposures considered higher risk.
