Marketing & Promotions Policy
1. Introduction
Montrock Ltd markets and promotes its products and services in accordance with section 31 of the Financial Services Act and the Guidelines for Advertising and Marketing of Financial Products issued by the Financial Services Commission (FSC) of Mauritius. This policy applies to all promotional material across any medium, including the website, print, broadcast, social media, email and other digital channels.
2. Fair, Clear and Not Misleading
All advertising is fair, clear, complete, concise and unambiguous. Benefits are not given undue prominence over risks, and the tone of any advertisement does not undermine the importance of those risks. Advertisements are not false, biased, misleading or deceptive, and any assumptions on which a statement is based are clearly stated.
3. Approved Language and Claims
The company does not use wording that could lead consumers to believe they cannot lose money or that capital is guaranteed — including terms such as “safe”, “secure”, “risk-free”, “protected”, “warranty”, “guarantee” or “promise”. Superlatives such as “best performing” or “first” are used only where supported by an independent source available for verification. Language implying urgency, or phrases such as “get rich quick”, is not used.
4. Fees and Costs
Where fees or costs are referred to, advertising gives a realistic impression of the overall level of fees and costs a consumer is likely to pay, and any exclusions or qualifications are clearly and prominently stated. A service is not described as “free” or “low cost” where the consumer effectively pays for it indirectly.
5. Risk Warnings
Advertisements adequately reflect and explain any special or unusual risks associated with a product. Where a product is denominated in a currency other than the Mauritian rupee, consumers are warned that exchange-rate movements may affect the value, price or income of their holding.
6. Performance Information
Any performance information presented in an advertisement includes a track record of at least six months and, at a minimum, details of the returns on the investment product concerned.
7. Internet and Direct Marketing
Online advertising is consistent with the most up-to-date approved versions of the relevant material, and printed copies are available on request. Direct or non-written marketing is conducted at a convenient time, clearly identifies the company, and is terminated promptly on request.
